It’s been a lot of fun.

I have been having a lot of fun teaching 9 incredible women in the beta version of my DIY Branding and Web Design Course – Create, Connect, Convert since early February.

We started the journey with the messaging and clarity module, then moved on to how to write connective content for their websites that inspires action (this is very different than writing a book or what you were taught in English class), and now we are creating their visual brand (colors, fonts, logo, photos, yes the fun part!).

And then the last piece of the puzzle will be designing and developing their websites.

Planting seeds with brand DNA.

I knew from my years of creating websites with clients, that one of the biggest hurdles, always, is being able to effectively answer all of the questions that come up during the planning, design and development process.

It can cause paralysis or for the project to take months and months longer than it should, if you don’t take the time to get clear before you actually try to plan your website or write your content.

When you create a website, it’s a wonderful opportunity to get crystal clear clarity on almost every part of your brand. It is a lot like doing a complete home remodel. You can declutter, get rid of what isn’t working, and you can refine what you are keeping.

For the students in CCC, the clarity from Module 1 is informing every single decision they are making as they move through the rest of the modules. I knew that would be true.

I encouraged them to not look outward, but to instead look inward for the answers. And they have. The results are quite beautiful.

I am watching the seeds they planted in the first module, the seeds made up 100% of their brands authentic DNA taking root and blossoming as they write their content and begin to create their visual brands.

I am seeing each one of their beautifully unique personal brands coming to life, growing and getting stronger. But none of this would have happened if they didn’t embrace the clarity work in module 1 as they did.

Brand clarity needs to be holistic.

There are three areas you should focus on for clarity. And your clarity needs to be completely holistic, meaning you must have clarity on ALL the interconnected parts of your business.

First, you need to get clear on who you are serving. Who are you talking to with this brand and this website? What are the problems they are experiencing that you have the answers to?

You need to know this client intimately so you can talk to them like a friend. And so you can have empathy for the problems they are experiencing and so you can explain how you can help.

You need to have clarity in your business. What are your offerings? What is included in each of your offers? And what are the features and most importantly the benefits of each offer? How will the process work for moving a prospect from lead to client?

And you need to know yourself because you are the face of your business. So knowing what makes you unique? What are your strongest skills? What sets you apart from other people doing the same thing? And what special qualities about your personality are people attracted to?

Self-aware brands are evolved brands.

Success blooms from seeds composed of your brand DNA.

What do I mean by “success blooms from seeds composed of your brand authentic DNA”?

There are three amazing results that will happen by getting clear before creating your visual brand and your website.

1. What you create will be authentically you. It will not be a watered down imitation of another brand or a pieced together conglomerate of a bunch of different brands that inspire you. It will originate and grow out of what makes you and how you serve unique. And it will represent the message you are meant to share with the world.

2. You will start to connect with your ideal clients. If you take time to get to know your ideal client, your brand and website can be created with them in mind. This happens through the content you share, the words you use, the visuals you choose and even the colors and fonts that your visual brand uses. When you do this, you will start to magically connect with the people you love to serve.

3. Finally, you will create a website that inspires action. When your website and visual brand grow out of complete and crystal clear clarity, from seeds infused with your brand DNA, your ideal clients will start to take the actions you are hoping for like engaging with your content, joining your mailing list, scheduling get acquainted calls and purchasing your services.
